What is a Vaulta account?
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Short answer
A Vaulta account (the chain formerly branded EOS) is an on-chain name, usually 12 characters, that holds your A balance, tokens, and resources. It is controlled by the keys in its owner and active permissions, and whoever holds those keys controls the account. To create one on Blocksfinity, open Get started, pay with Create instantly or use the free Identity Inc. path when it is enabled, and save the private key offline. Blocksfinity never holds your keys.
How an account works
Unlike a wallet address on some chains, a Vaulta account is a readable name stored on chain. It has permissions, each made of one or more keys:
- Owner: the top authority. It can replace every other key. Keep it offline as your recovery root.
- Active: the everyday authority for transfers, staking, RAM, REX, and votes.
- Resources: each transaction spends CPU and NET, and the account's data uses RAM. A new account with a standard key needs about 3 KB of RAM. See PowerUp and RAM.
Account name rules
- Exactly 12 characters, using lowercase a to z and digits 1 to 5.
- No capitals, no 0, 6, 7, 8, or 9, and no symbols.
- Names shorter than 12 characters are premium. They are won in a name auction.
- Names are written to the chain and cannot be changed later. Check the spelling before you confirm.
How to create an account
- Open Get started.
- Choose Create instantly (paid) or Continue free (Identity Inc., when enabled).
- Save the private key shown to you offline, before you pay or confirm. It is generated in your browser. Blocksfinity never sees or stores it.
- Pick a 12-character name and confirm.
- Back on Blocksfinity, confirm your offline owner key is saved. Where passkeys are enabled, add one for daily sign-in.
- Add a second way in, such as Authenticator or another wallet, so one lost device does not lock you out.
Paid or free create
- Create instantly (paid): opens the BlocksfinityCreate checkout. Pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, or PayPal. The price is shown on the button. No identity check.
- Continue free (Identity Inc.): available when enabled. Verify your email, complete an identity check, choose a name, create keys, then bind and unlock the account. One verification covers one account, and free creates are rate-limited. See Identity.
- From an account you already have: use Wallet, Create account and pay for the new account's resources yourself.
Keys and custody
The standard create flow gives you one private key, not a word phrase. At first that key controls both owner and active. Blocksfinity does not store private keys, seed phrases, or passkeys, and it cannot reset access if every recovery path is lost. If you lose the key and have no other authority on the account, access is gone for good. Keep the owner key offline and set up at least one other path. Details are in the recover access guide.
Common mistakes
- Saving the key only on one phone. Write it down or store it offline in more than one place.
- Typos in the name. A name cannot be renamed. A typo means creating a new account.
- Using only a passkey. A passkey does not replace the offline owner key.
- Sharing the key with "support". Blocksfinity never asks for it. Anyone who does is attempting theft.
Next steps
- Look up any account in the explorer.
- Turn on free account alerts.
- Review keys in Keys & Permissions and the Security checklist.
